Review: Revlon Colour Stay 24hrs liquid foundation

I have tried many many MANY drug store liquid foundations to suit my dry skin and nothing has worked as good as this Revlon Colour Stay foundation.

Now of course there are many high end liquid foundations that are pretty amazing such as the MAC studio fix fluid which, I have also tried and it works a gem.

This Revlon Colour Stay is definitely a great cheaper alternative.

Before
After

In these before and after shots, I am not wearing any powder. I simply moisturised my face with my regular Nivea SPF and pumped Revlon Colour Stay in Nude once onto my forehand. I then dipped my flat foundation brush and spread only one layer, evenly onto my face.

This is definitely a build-able foundation - although as you can see, one layer gave me full coverage!

It seems to give off a very natural look especially if you like to contour, this doesn't get in the way and give you a cakey finish. It has a smooth dewy finish, a natural glow really!

Its very light weight which makes it difficult to create that accidental foundation line along the sides of your face if you forget to blend properly, or if you're in a rush.

It also works great as an eyeshadow primer, really makes the colours pop, check it out below.

Using Revlon Colour Stay as a primer

To review properly, I wore the foundation all day WITHOUT finishing powder just to see how well it would stick to my face without me touching up. Check out the basic winter look below.

The full look before starting my day WITHOUT finishing powder
At the end of the day - no touch up or powder
The lighting is a bit funny but as you can see here, I still have full coverage. I think Revlon has stuck to its "long wear" premise! It hasn't caked or faded and my skin looks smooth.

The only downfall is if you don't usually use a makeup removing formula or makeup wipes to remove your makeup. I exfoliated in the shower that night, and it did not come off my face. It awkwardly dried and slightly flaked on my skin. I had to remove with some makeup wipes.

Overall, I definitely think it's an affordable everyday foundation that you can trust to last an entire day without rubbing off. It's probably ideal as well if you go swimming. It gives a nice glow to your face without the aid of a finishing powder.

Rating: 9/10

A little secret: I've actually stopped using powder with this foundation because I find that its natural form looks the best on me. And when I tried powder, it really highlighted the dryness of my skin. If you have oily skin, perhaps opt for a really light - preferably mineral - setting powder and only lightly dust it over.
